Esker Alternatives for Accounts Receivable and Collections Compared by ERP and Price

Esker publishes no price and most customers use two or three of its six AR modules. Here are the realistic replacements, matched to the modules you actually use and the ERP you run, with the only figures anyone publishes and a switch plan that does not lose a month of cash.

The realistic Esker alternatives for accounts receivable are HighRadius and Billtrust if you run SAP or Oracle and want a full order-to-cash suite, Sidetrade if you want an AI that actually phones customers, Quadient AR or Versapay for mid-market teams on NetSuite, Sage or Dynamics, and a published-price collections tool such as AccountsReceivable.ai if all you really need from Esker is the collections module. Which one fits depends less on features than on two facts: the ERP you run, and how much of Esker's suite you actually use.

Esker is a serious platform. It started in document delivery and sales order processing, and its AR suite covers six modules: Credit Management, Invoice Delivery, Payment Processing, Cash Application, Claims and Deductions, and Collections Management. It publishes no price, it sells a subscription plus per-document charges, and since early 2025 it has been owned by Bridgepoint and General Atlantic rather than listed in Paris. Teams start looking elsewhere at renewal, after a long implementation, or when they realize they bought a document platform to solve a chasing problem.

This guide compares the alternatives on what an Esker customer actually has to replace. Facts come from each vendor's own pages; where a figure comes from a third party, it says so.

What are the best Esker alternatives?

The best Esker alternative is the one that connects to your ERP and covers the modules you really use. For SAP and Oracle shops replacing the whole suite, that is usually HighRadius or Billtrust. For NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Business Central teams that mainly use collections, it is a lighter tool with a named connector and a published price.

Two things stand out. Nobody in the enterprise half of the table publishes a price, which means switching from Esker to HighRadius or Billtrust swaps one negotiated contract for another. And only Sidetrade and AccountsReceivable.ai have software that talks to your customer on the phone. Everyone else hands your collectors a better list.

Who are Esker's competitors in accounts receivable?

Esker's direct competitors in accounts receivable are HighRadius, Billtrust, Sidetrade, Quadient AR, BlackLine Invoice-to-Cash, FIS GETPAID, Emagia, Serrala and Versapay. Gartner's invoice-to-cash review pages list most of them side by side. Newer AI collections vendors such as Kolleno, Monk and Tesorio also show up on shortlists, mostly for mid-market teams that never needed Esker's document network in the first place.

It helps to split them by where they came from. HighRadius, Sidetrade, Emagia and GETPAID grew up in credit and collections. Billtrust and Esker grew up in invoice delivery and printing. BlackLine came in through the financial close and bought Rimilia for cash application. Versapay and Quadient AR came in through the customer portal. The origin still shows in what each does best, and it predicts which part of Esker each one replaces cleanly.

Match the alternative to the Esker modules you actually use

Before you take a single demo, pull your Esker usage. Most buyers license two or three of the six modules, and many lean on one. The right replacement follows from that, not from a feature grid.

  • Collections Management is the main thing you use. You are paying enterprise rates for a worklist and reminder emails. A collections tool with a named connector to your ERP will do this for a fraction of the cost, and an agent that sends texts and places calls will do more of the work than Esker's collector queue did.
  • Invoice Delivery and the customer portal are the point. Billtrust and Versapay are the natural replacements. Check whether your large customers already pay you through either network, because that shortens the switch.
  • Claims and Deductions drive the business. If you sell to big-box retail or grocery, deductions are a different problem from collections, and HighRadius is the most complete replacement. Our deduction management software page sets out what that job needs.
  • Cash Application is what you would miss. HighRadius and BlackLine are strongest on high-volume lockbox and remittance matching. If your deposits are mostly ACH with remittance emails, a lighter tool covers it; our cash application software page compares the approaches.

Does Esker integrate with NetSuite, and what replaces it there?

Yes. Esker names a pre-built NetSuite connector alongside SAP ECC and S/4HANA, Oracle E-Business Suite and JD Edwards, and it reaches Sage X3, Sage 100 and Epicor Prophet 21 through partners. So NetSuite is not, by itself, a reason to leave. The reason NetSuite teams leave is that the Esker project was sized for a bigger company than theirs.

On NetSuite the field of alternatives is wide. Versapay, Quadient AR, HighRadius, Billtrust, Tesorio and Sidetrade all name it, and so does AccountsReceivable.ai on the Growth plan. Our accounts receivable automation for NetSuite page lists who connects how. If you run Business Central instead, the Dynamics 365 AR automation page does the same for BC, where the options are narrower.

How much does Esker cost compared with the alternatives?

Esker publishes no price. It charges an annual subscription plus document-based transaction fees, with implementation scoped separately, and a multi-module SAP rollout is a six-figure first-year project by most estimates. Our Esker pricing breakdown walks through the cost drivers line by line.

The enterprise alternatives are priced the same way, so a switch from Esker to HighRadius or Billtrust is a negotiation, not a saving you can calculate in advance. The only buyer-reported figures in this half of the market come from Vendr: a median near 12,973 USD a year for HighRadius, and an average near 5,423 USD for Versapay that rests on just four purchases, so treat it as a hint rather than a benchmark.

The price gap only becomes concrete when you drop down to tools that publish a rate card. Chaser starts at 259 USD a month in the US, Paidnice at 69 USD for small invoice volumes, and AccountsReceivable.ai at 299 USD a month with SMS included, or 799 USD with live AI calls and the NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Business Central and Acumatica connectors. Our AR automation pricing page shows what each plan includes.

When staying on Esker is the right call

Esker earns its place in some companies, and a guide that never says so is not worth reading. Stay if you run Esker for sales order processing or accounts payable as well, because pulling one module out of a shared platform can cost more in integration work than it saves. Stay if your customers receive invoices through Esker's delivery network and changing that would mean re-onboarding hundreds of buyers. And stay if deductions from large retailers are your biggest leak, unless you are moving to HighRadius.

If AP is the part of Esker that is up for renewal too, treat it as a separate decision. Collections and payables have different buyers, different volumes and different risks, and good accounts payable automation software is priced on its own terms. Bundling both into one replacement contract tends to hide what each side really costs.

How to switch from Esker without losing a month of cash

The risk in any AR migration is the gap: a few weeks where the old reminders have stopped and the new ones have not started, and the overdue balance quietly grows. Avoid it with a short overlap.

  1. Export your open items, contacts and dunning history from Esker before notice runs out, and keep the last aging report as your baseline.
  2. Connect the new tool to your ERP and run it in review mode for one or two weeks, so every message is approved before it goes.
  3. Switch off Esker's reminder sequences for one customer segment at a time, starting with the smallest balances, and switch the new sequences on for the same segment the same day.
  4. Check that payments and promises to pay recorded by the new tool flow back to the ERP, so collectors and the agent never chase a paid invoice.
  5. Compare DSO and the over-60 balance against the baseline after 30 and 60 days, then retire the rest of the Esker sequences.

If you want to see what the chasing would look like on your own receivables before any of that, drop an aging export into the tool at the top of this page. It shows the follow-up each overdue invoice would get, by email, text and call, without connecting anything.

Questions to ask every Esker alternative

  • Is the connector to our ERP your own or a partner's, and who supports it when it breaks?
  • Which of the six Esker modules does your product replace, and which would we lose?
  • What is the all-in first-year price, with implementation on its own line?
  • Who contacts our customers after the second ignored email, through which channel, and in whose time zone?
  • How long from signature to the first reminder going out?
  • What is the annual increase cap and the notice period?

If your other finalists are the usual enterprise names, our comparisons of HighRadius competitors, Billtrust competitors and Quadient AR competitors go a level deeper on each. If Versapay is on the list, read Versapay vs Esker, which sets the two quote structures side by side.

Frequently asked questions about Esker alternatives

What is a cheaper alternative to Esker for collections?

If you only need collections, tools with published monthly prices cost far less than an Esker contract. Paidnice starts at 69 USD a month, Chaser at 259 USD and AccountsReceivable.ai at 299 USD with SMS included, rising to 799 USD for live AI calls and NetSuite or Sage Intacct connectors. None replaces Esker's invoice delivery or deductions modules.

Is HighRadius better than Esker?

Neither is better across the board. HighRadius is stronger on cash application, deductions and AI-driven collections worklists, and Gartner reviewers often describe it as easier to deploy. Esker is stronger on invoice delivery and sales order processing, and suits companies that run it for AP and order entry too. Both publish no price and both rely on your collectors to make calls.

Does Esker make collection calls?

No. Esker's Collections Management module uses its Synergy AI to predict payment dates and reorder the collectors' worklist by risk, but the calls are made by your team. Among enterprise AR vendors, Sidetrade is the one that places autonomous outbound collection calls. AccountsReceivable.ai places live AI calls on its Growth plan.

Can a mid-market company on NetSuite replace Esker with a lighter tool?

Yes, if collections is the module you rely on. Several tools connect to NetSuite natively, including Versapay, Quadient AR, Tesorio and AccountsReceivable.ai, and most go live in weeks rather than months. Keep Esker, or move to Billtrust, if invoice delivery to customer portals or retail deductions is the bigger part of your workload.

Who owns Esker now?

Esker is owned by Bridgepoint, together with General Atlantic and Esker's management. Their tender offer, announced in September 2024 at 262 euros a share, completed in early 2025, and Esker was delisted from Euronext Growth Paris on March 3, 2025. Private equity ownership tends to show up at renewal, so negotiate an annual increase cap.
